1999 Season
Ditched the novice status this season. Unfortunately, a crash at Darley Moor, the second meeting of the year, again resulted in more broken ribs, severe bruising and moderate damage to the bike which was easily repaired.
Further race meetings at Darley Moor, Mallory Park, Wroughton and Silverstone brought mixed success and improving results. The bike in standard road trim was clearly a disadvantage this season.
The final meeting of the season was at Silverstone, The MCC 50th anniversary meeting in pouring rain and my first outing on full wet tyres. Main race of the day was a 20 minute time trial. Got front row start for this event alongside tuned Yamaha R1's! First two laps I had taken the lead twice, but kept losing positions on the straights due to lack of power. On third lap went for lead again at Copse Corner, but went in too fast and lost the front. Both me and the bike ended up in the gravel trap with bike flipping over a couple of times. The bike was extensively damaged and I broke several more ribs again.
